Centenary Bowls Day
The Centenary Bowls Day was held on the 11th of July 2021. 11 New Forest Bowling Clubs were represented by two members , together with the New Forest Men's President and the New Forest Ladies President. Total visitors were 24. Teams were made up of two members and two guests, therefore 48 bowlers enjoyed a fun afternoon of Bowls. The guests were welcomed by Bernie Tennant, David Nutbeam, and Ngaio Mapes. They were treated to an afternoon tea following the Bowls, catered by Jan Merrett and her willing helpers. Lymington Bowling Club members were also invited to join us for tea and a total of 73 people were catered for. The winning team was made up of Bill Merrett, Ken Carter, Lesley Mitchell and Roger Mitchell both from Waterside. All bowlers were presented with a commemorative pin to remember the day. Derick Faulkner (NF President) gave a very nice thank you speech on behalf of the visitors. The atmosphere in the Clubhouse was great and all details of the day were carried out within COVID regulations. A raffle was organised by Shirley and an amazing £310 was raised for Oakhaven Hospice.
